Ergodic Properties of Microcanonical Observables

چکیده
The problem of the existence of a Strong Stochasticity Threshold in the FPU-β model is reconsidered, using suitable microcanonical observables of thermodynamic nature, like the temperature and the specific heat. Explicit expressions for these observables are obtained by exploiting rigorous methods of differential geometry. Measurements of the corresponding temporal autocorrelation functions locate the threshold at a finite value of the energy density, that results to be independent of the number of degrees of freedom.

Individual ergodic theorem for intuitionistic fuzzy observables using intuitionistic fuzzy state
The classical ergodic theory hasbeen built on σ-algebras. Later the Individual ergodictheorem was studied on more general structures like MV-algebrasand quantum structures. The aim of this paper is to formulate theIndividual ergodic theorem for intuitionistic fuzzy observablesusing m-almost everywhere convergence, where m...
متن کاملEpsilon-ergodicity and the Success of Equilibrium Statistical Mechanics
Why does classical equilibrium statistical mechanics work? Malament and Zabell (1980) noticed that, for ergodic dynamical systems, the unique absolutely continuous invariant probability measure is the microcanonical. Earman and Rédei (1996) replied that systems of interest are very probably not ergodic, so that absolutely continuous invariant probability measures very distant from the microcano...
متن کاملQuantum ergodicity for Pauli Hamiltonians with spin 1/2
Quantum ergodicity, which expresses the semiclassical convergence of almost all expectation values of observables in eigenstates of the quantum Hamiltonian to the corresponding classical microcanonical average, is proven for non-relativistic quantum particles with spin 1/2. It is shown that quantum ergodicity holds, if a suitable combination of the classical translational dynamics and the spin ...
متن کاملCalculation of the microcanonical temperature for the classical Bose field
Abstract The ergodic hypothesis asserts that a classical mechanical system will in time visit every available configuration in phase space. Thus, for an ergodic system, an ensemble average of a thermodynamic quantity can equally well be calculated by a time average over a sufficiently long period of dynamical evolution. In this paper, we describe in detail how to calculate the temperature and c...
متن کاملMicrocanonical solution of the mean - field φ 4 model : comparison with time averages at finite size
We solve the mean-field φ4 model in an external magnetic field in the microcanonical ensemble using two different methods. The first one is based on Rugh’s microcanonical formalism and leads to express macroscopic observables, such as temperature, specific heat, magnetization and susceptibility, as time averages of convenient functions of the phase-space. The approach is applicable for any fini...
